A searing attack on the woefully inadequate teaching of history in America and a tearing down of heroes sort of work, this book's subject matter really appealed to us. The more we read Loewen's book, however, the more we hated him. In the words of a reviewer at Amazon.com, he is a neo-marxist infantile leftist. Tthe book was one that we really ended up loving to hate. Loewen successfully showed how one-sided our teaching of history in the US is and how dangerous the determinist philosophy of history is. We have no desire to replace our inadequate system with his equally flawed yet politically correct agendas, but we agreed 100% with many of his criticisms of history teaching in general.
